piplanning.io provides imporant leading indicator metrics aligned with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe®) to help Program Owners, Release Train Engineers (RTEs), and stakeholders forecast Planning Increment (PI) outcomes early and effectively.
Key metrics include:
Flow Distribution > Capacity Allocation chart showing how work is distributed across the type of work at the team level (new code, maintenance, technical debt.
Flow Load > Load vs. Capacity chart highlighting when demand exceeds team/ART capacity to prevent overload and multitasking which leads to waste.
Dependency Management Sankey Chart > Dependencies chart visualizing cross-team and cross-ART dependencies as flows, making bottlenecks and risks transparent at a glance.
Flow Predictability > ART Predictability or Team Predictability charts measuring how consistently teams and Agile Release Trains (ARTs) meet their Program Increment (PI) commitments, acting as a lagging indicator of delivery reliability.
Burndown, an Agile management tool to visually track remaining work against time, typically for an Iteration (Sprint), or across the whole PI.
How to access the ART/Team Metrics charts
Easily access the Metrics modal by launching it from the main navigation at the top of the following pages:
ART Planning Board to launch the ART-level Metrics modal.
Team Board to launch the Metrics modal which is scoped to the Team-level metrics.
In the top-left of the navigation bar on either the ART-level or Team-level page there is a pie chart icon, 
, click this icon to launch the Metrics modal for the respective ART-level or Team-level metrics.
