How to setup the Confidence Vote in a PI Session

  1. Select Confidence Vote from the dropdown menu under the Facilitation b menu in the top-right.

  2. Click Create New or

    Click Create New button to create a Confidence Vote session.

  3. Complete the Confidence Vote modal fields as follows:

    1. Select Participating Teams by checking the corresponding checkboxes

    2. Enter a Title/Name. Important: naming convention matters because Users will rely on the Name/Title to guide them to the right Confidence Vote session.

    3. Optional: Enter a Description

    4. Optional: Check Anonymous Vote if this Confidence Vote is to be conducted in an anonymous manner.

    5. Click Start Vote or Save as Draft (if wish to prepare the CV in advance).

Who participates in a Confidence Vote

All piplanning.io Users that are members of a Team that is included in the Confidence Vote session are eligible to participate [vote].

All piplanning.io User Roles can particpate as long as the previous requirement is met, the Roles are:

  • Team Members

  • Observers

  • PI Admins

  • Admins

How Users (members of a Team) join a Confidence Vote Session

IF a User is logged into the PI Session and active, the logged in User will receive a notification badge when the Confidence Vote has started. Active Users can simply:

  • Click on the notification badge to join a Confidence Vote session.

Otherwise Users need to navigate to Confidence Vote modal via the Facilitation Tools > Confidence Vote menu. Then perform the following simple steps:

  • Find and select the Confidence Vote session they need to join.

    User selects the Confidence Vote session to join. Pay attention to the Confidence Vote session name.

  • Using the Fist of Five voting scheme, a User casts their vote by selecting the icon that matches their vote.

    User casts their vote by clicking on the Fist of Five icon.

  • The User can either close the voting modal or leave it open to see results once the voting has ended.

How to administer the Confidence Vote

The user that starts the Confidence Vote is the User that administers the Confidence Vote session. The user that setup and starts the Confidence Vote session is fundamentally the administrator of that Confidence Vote session, they can:

  • Keep track of the number of Participants Voting progress.

  • Control when the voting ends by clicking End & Reveal Votes button.

Confidence Vote Results

  • Results are display instantaneously to all Users once the voting has ended.

  • The Results can be filtered to focus only on the Low or Very Low confidence votes to support the facilitation of discussions to remediate the PI Plan accordingly.

Confidence Votes are displayed instantaneously when voting ends.


Confidence Vote FAQs

Are Users with the Observer Role able to participate in the Confidence Vote session?

Answer: Yes, piplanning.io Users with the Observer Role are able to participate in the voting. The only requirement is that they are a member of a Team that is included in the Confidence Vote session.

Can we delete Confidence Votes if they are created in error?

Answer: Yes. There is a delete button on Confidence Votes that have been completed or a discard button if you wish to discard the Confidence Vote setup.

Are we able to setup Confidence Votes in advance once the PI Session is set up, so we only need to start the voting during the PI Event?

Answer: Yes, you have the ability to save the Confidence Vote as a draft if you wish to set up or configure the Confidence Vote sessions in advance.
